gladys hobbs: Malton,
My name is gladys hobbs. I have been suffering with back pain for 5 years. I first started with severe pain in my back and hip. I went to several doctors but did not get any relief. I was referred to a neurosurgeon who said I had to have surgery because a piece of bone was laying on my nerve. He went in and removed the piece of bone and I had to lay on my back for 2 months in order to heal. After 2 months, I went back to work, I am a school teacher, within 2 weeks at work my pain came back worse than ever. I have been going to a pain management clinic having steroid injections in my spine and I was able to walk and function with a lot less pain, but a year ago my doctor left and moved back to Arizona, his home town, and I cannot find anyone who does the injections as he did and I am dying with pain. The neurosurgeon who did my surgery just told me yesterday that I will need surgery again, but this time I will need to have my back fused and have rods put in my back. He said I would have to be off work for 6 months. Can you give me some advice on what I might need to do because I am in so much pain that can't live like this. I have no quality of life what so ever. I am too young to retire, and even if I was, I would still be suffering from the pain. I have even thought of suicide, but I would never do anything like that, but with pain like this, I don't know what to do. It is killing me a little at a time. Please help me if you can.
