Because excess weight can contribute to one’s back pain symptoms, I wrote an entire book about how to lose weight effectively and efficiently. Here are the 6 main points I emphasize in the Metamorphic Weight Loss program:
- Eat Breakfast: Skipping breakfast results in you running out of energy mid way through the morning. As a result, you can’t think as clearly and you are physically sluggish and unproductive.
- Don’t Skip Meals: Skipping meals results in a slowing of your metabolism as a means of conserving energy. A slower metabolism means fewer calories burned and more weight gained.
- Eat 4-6 Times Per Day: Instead of the traditional three meals a day, try 4-6 smaller meals per day. By eating more times per day, your energy levels remain high, resulting in a higher rate of metabolism and a greater number of calories burned.
- Always Combine an Essential Fat or Protein With Any Carbohydrate You Eat: By eating a protein or essential fat with your carbohydrate, you maintain a relatively stable blood sugar level and avoid excessive insulin production, which leads to increased fat storage.
- Drink Plenty of Water Throughout the Day: Water aids in the digestion process and other bodily functions. Keeping yourself well hydrated is an essential part of a balanced nutritional program.
- Perform Cardiovascular Exercise 3 Times Per Week: 30-45 minutes of full body cardiovascular exercise performed within your target heart rate range will provide you with the added energy you will need to accomplish your goals.
You will notice that from a nutritional standpoint, the proper combination of essential fats, essential proteins, and essential carbs is the key to maintaining stable blood sugar, which is the key to weight loss that lasts.
