Epidural steroid injections (ESI) are often prescribed for back pain relief. I tell patients that an ESI is used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes and is an excellent way to determine whether or not surgery is indicated.
Most patients have lots of questions regarding how an ESI is done. and what to expect from treatment.
Here’s a link to a video I came across that does an excellent job at describing the procedure. You can get to it here: Epidural Steroid Injection

i recently just had a steroid injection between l4&l5. the back pain went away for about 3 days but came back after i went back to physical therapy and traction. should i resume pt or relax for a little
Rob,
Make sure you’re getting the epidurals no more than 14 days apart to take maximum advantage of the anti inflammatory effects. If PT triggers pain, then I would modify activities. I can’t say yay or nay on the PT without knowing what you’re doing. For more information on epidural steroid injections, click here: Epidural Steroid Injections
